Inactive Member

• Employment not associated with field of audiology

• Extended absence from employment such as ill health or leave without pay

• Unemployed – inability to obtain employment

• Full time carer – not in paid employment


Retrospective –
Minimum period of 6 months over previous financial year

If circumstances change during current year, may elect to pay balance of pro-rata full fee and resume full benefits

May only be claimed in response to annual membership renewal

Concessions for extended leave without pay or unemployment not intended as support for extended travel or lifestyle choice


Not active in audiology – medium term or long term

Wish to retain membership (rather then resign)

May/will return to profession in future

Option to keep informed of current ASA issues

 

- 10% if elects NOT to receive communication over coming year/s

- 50% if elects to receive communication over coming year

Statutory declaration of circumstances in response to annual membership renewal

Not applicable - All members actively employed in field of audiology receive same level of benefits from ASA.
If requesting reduced fees, would need to submit consideration of financial hardship to FEC.
Retirement

Pending or recent retirement

Not applicable - Members deciding on professional retirement are encouraged to formally transfer to Emeritus Membership subject to FEC approval.
Fees for Emeritus are less than Full/Fellow.
Unable to renew CCP as would not satisfy employment criteria.
Return to Fulltime Study

Studying fulltime in audiology

Return to fulltime study in an Australian institution leading to a higher qualification in audiology

May only be claimed in response to annual membership renewal

Under Constitution, ASA may reduce or remit annual subscriptions in special circumstances.

ASA encourages any endeavour to return to fulltime study in audiology

Financial Hardship

Considered on case by case basis

Holders of Pensioner Concession cards who are in need due to financial hardship - considered on case by case basis

FEC will consider cases of personal or financial hardship which affect capacity to pay fees

As first option, fees could be paid in instalments by prior arrangement with ASA Office

Members experiencing hardship and who hold a Pensioner Concession Card which should be current for at least the next 6 months from when annual memberships are normally paid


Under Constitution, ASA may reduce or remit annual subscriptions in special circumstances

Low income earners receiving selected Centrelink payments may be eligible for a Pensioner Concession Card.
Holders of Pensioner Concession cards may need assistance and relief according to individual circumstances at the time. They are generally subject to income and assets tests.

At discretion of FEC and according to capacity to pay – may be between 50-100%
Request in writing with statutory declaration outlining circumstances and other supporting documentation. (including photocopy of Pensioner Concession Card if appropriate and statement that card still current)

Request in response to annual membership renewal. Cannot be backdated. All requests made in confidence.
Decision by FEC on recommendation from Treasurer

If Pensioner Concession Card due to expire within 6 months of renewal, member should outline circumstances of hardship expected 6 months beyond expiry date and support case with additional evidence.

Members need to be financial and satisfy other criteria in order to renew CCP
